Asalto inminente
Ahora que ya han pasado las elecciones, la maquinaria vuelve a ponerse en marcha. Los marines se preparan para el asalto final sobre Faluya. Se dice que el 80% de los 250.000 habitantes de la ciudad han huido.
Antes de que alguien diga que todos los que permanecen son combatientes que merecen ser aniquilados, la prueba de que no es así:
The chief Marine intelligence officer in Iraq, Col. Ronald S. Makuta, gave this description in an e-mail message from his headquarters at Camp Falluja, three miles east of the city: "Those remaining fall under the categories of not having enough money to move out or simply do not want to leave their homes and possessions for fear that these will be gutted and or robbed by the foreign fighters, local insurgents, and criminals. Insurgents continue to wage a brutal campaign of murder, assassination, terror, kidnapping, coercion, and intimidation. The criminal content has also taken advantage of the lawlessness in the city, and are pursuing similar means."

Pero, ¿la guerra no se había acabado? Reir por no llorar.Por cierto, Iñigo, no sé si has tenido la oportunidad de leer el libro "Plan de ataque", de Bob Woodward... Si no es así, te lo recomiendo (si me aceptas esta recomendación), da muchos datos y detalles sobre las relaciones de Estados Unidos con Irak, Emiratos Árabes y otros países, no sólo durante el mandato Bush, sino con presidentes anteriores
